Exclamation Ionia County Sheriff's Dive Team was activated...

Today, just a short while ago, we were dispatched out for a 19 year old male down in the Grand River. Members of our dive team within the Sheriff's office include personnel from Berlin-Orange F.D.; Lyons-Muir Fire and Portland Fire/EMS.

We recovered the young man in 15 feet of water with zero visibility and alcohol WAS a factor. Here's one of the news links already and I will post more links as they become available. (Notice the comments about it being possible suicide...it wasn't. It was an accidental drowning.)

Additionally, AeroMed was on the scene and Portland Police Department. Wood TV should have updated video later this evening on their website. In the additional video, you can see Pat (The first guy in the video, followed by myself and Pat's older brother Chris...all 3 of us in wet suits.)

They released more updates on the story. 4 teens, a case of beer and 20 year old that wasn't a good swimmer. People that lived on either side of the bridge took photos of the kids before they started jumping into the river as they were obviously trespassing.

His down time was nearly an hour in 15' of water with a surface temp. of 77 degrees and an approximate bottom temp of around 74 degrees. His skin felk like it was every bit of 60 degrees, although I'm sure that he was warmer than that.
