What a High!

Today, while I was observing at a (hopefully) prospective employer to check me out before they hire me, I was called into the coordinators' office. ALS and BLS that is. They had a discussion with me about how they'd like to hire me but cannot because of the budget problems with increased fuel costs, we were dispatched to a cardiac arrest at a bank. Not a busy time for the bank so short downtime. The patient's family member does bank business comes out and patient is in full arrest. We arrive to find PD pulled pt from car and full arrest. Vfib on monitor, shocked at 200J biphasic I start compressions and about 450-500 compressions in I am relieved. No CPR needed to continue-we have pulses and NSR w/PVCs. Pt was intubated while I did compressions and 10 minutes after we arrive on scene is breathing around the tube. Then we find out pt is DNR. He is now has ROSC. What a high! First time in 16 years I assisted in a CPR save.
