mouth to mouth

i had interesting experience a couple weeks ago and it's still something that i've been thinking about a lot and i wonder how everyone else thought about the subject of mouth to mouth without a barrier of any sort. i posted this in the BLS section because that is what it is after all. i'll wait a little while and post more of a back story as to my experience after there are some votes

I carry a faceshield on my keys. I guess it depends, though...

I responded POV for an unknown medical at residence, 53yof. As I pulled up on scene I notified the County that I was on scene and they stated family is doing CPR. Came as a shock to me, I wasn't expecting a cardiac arrest. I was greeted by the husband stating his wife was up on the 2nd floor and he wasn't sure what happened. I get up there and of course there was no one doing CPR, so after checking vitals I initiated CPR but I had no barrier with me of any type. I asked the husband to get me a paper towel, thankfully it was Bounty and it worked well.

That is just gross, what if you had gotten stomach contents.

Yeah.. I know someone who did CPR, and she flipped out and asked why they don't tell you in the class that they'll puke.

You have a family member... tell them how to do mouth to mouth? ANYONE... ANYONE? There is no freaking way I would do mouth to mouth on anyone!
