Post H1n1..

Anyone affected as of yet personally?

I have 2 teenage boys that are home right now with it, barfing their brains out. I'm loading them both up with Tylenol trying to get their fevers down and trying to prevent the other 4 children from getting this nasty ass shit.

Not in our house yet, expecting it soon though. 36 kids went home from the middle school on Tuesday (total of about 480 kids in school) and my daughter said that two from her class left yesterday.

Is all over the place in our area. ER had 1 confirmed case on Tuesday with 3 others with tests pending all come in within 1 hr of each other. Of course, none of them needed to be in the ER, they just were because they had the swine.

On a humorous note, my son caused mass hysteria in 4th grade yesterday that warrented the principal to tell the teacher to call me and his father.

Apparently in all of the discussions we've been having at home, his little 9yo brain thought we said that more kids are dying of getting the H1N1 vaccine. He then took that warped info and passed it on to all of the kids in his class that are being vaccinated and told them that they are going to die.

His teacher made it sound like there was crying, fits and seizures occuring from the other students because of this, when according to my son it was just "somebody must have told on me to Mrs. X."

LMAO! I talked to the boy, cleared up that it is the actual virus causing more deaths, not the vaccine and then e-mailed the school and told them I had told my son he couldn't ever tell other kids they were going to die anymore.

My youngest daughter was confirmed with the H1N1 last week. Initially she had a swab that showed Type A influenza which further testing revealed as H1N1.

She coughed and felt like crap for a few days, missed 6 days of school but came through it without a problem.

i don't think in this area they're even testing for hamthrax (love the name i'm going to use that a lot more) because of how long it takes to get results. They're just treating all + influenza A's as hamthrax rest, fluid, fever reducers, and just let it run its course. damn media

All of my kids have had flu like symptoms, my wife had it too, and I ran fever for about 24 hours. Dr said they arent even testing for it, he said if you have flu like symptoms, you probably have H1n1. Treat like normal flu and dont bring it up to his office unless you think youre going to need something more than OTC meds.

That said, I hope we are done with it... nothing like having 3 kids and the wife all throwing their guts up all at the same time.

I have heard they are now using a swab to test rather than blood. Anyone know what kinda time frame for results to come back on this?
