Default New Show on Discovery Health

Has anyone seen this show -I didn't know I was pregnant? Seems rather odd that women would not know they were pregnant. I mean aren't there obvious signs that would clue people in before the abdominal pain, bleeding, and new babies?

Maybe I'm becoming jaded.....But I wonder if the same amount of denial that exists in men about health conditions (i.e. not going to a doc until we feel like we are absolutely dying before seeking help) may to some degree be present in the female gender as well.

Not necessarily - my friend had normal periods, little weight gain, no nausea or food cravings - she was 6 months before it was found out. Ended up with a 9lb baby in perfect health - go figure!

Yeah, it seems that the common thread with them is 1. they didn't miss any periods, and/or 2. they were told they couldn't get pregnant at some point or other.

More like, "I didn't know I was having sex?"

Come on, how in the Hell could you NOT know that something was amiss in your stink muffin? Has anyone noticed that almost every woman featured on there tips the scales in the 200+ department? At least the 2 episodes I watched were all land whales.

Okay Medic_in_2009

Not all that hard to miss.

For example my pregnancy with stinky

1. never missed a period
2. lost weight for the first few months (like 21 weeks)
3. no cravings
4. complete physical at 3 months approx didnt reveal anything
5. Xrays due to being in an accident didnt reveal anything
6. ER visit for food poisoning didnt reveal anything
7. at 18 was told that my ovaries were badly damaged
8. at 20 was told that pregnancy was impossible by my gynocologist due to the damage to my ovaries.

So really it iisnt that hard to miss. even by doctors and blood work

It is possible. I have seen it and in people under 200lbs. I dare say it was someone on that show a l o n g time ago. At least they had some kind of special on it a long time ago. Maybe part of it is denial. But hey, when you are told it's nearly impossible to get pregnant, you have essentially put it out of your mind and you are still having a period, it is reasonable to think that a womans mind wouldn't go towards being pregnant. Especially if they have never been pregnant because they don't really know all the subtle signs to look for if there are any. People, common people, non medically inclined people ( medically inclined to any degree) know pregnancy as big belly, morning sickness, some kind of "glow", nesting and baby showers and fluctuating moods and ect ect ect. periods would throw anyone off. Especially if being pregnant is the last thing on your mind.
