Default Iodine tablets??????

i dunno if this is the right area to put this in but i figured it would be worth at shot. I was curiouse about the water purification iodine tablets. if u were to concentrate this wot a smaller amount of water would this be effecitve in wound cleaning and care. getting ready to overhaul my wilderness first aid kit. was wondering if this would be more effective then the little wipes u can get. any input on teh matter would be great hoping there area couple of WEMT's out there who might be able to help.

I doubt it. And it's always a bad idea to use stuff for stuff it wasn't intended for. Check out "The Complete Walker" to get an idea.

Anyways, I prefer Benzalkonium Chloride and bringing my own damned water.

Coffee filters and boiling water works fine. They took away Iodine tabs from us when I was in the Army beck in the 80's...can't say I would use them to purify my drinking water though.

The medical disinfectant is actually Betadine not iodine. It has other stuff in it that the tablets don't. Carry the wipes in your kit.

It is now, but iodine was used extensively before betadine.

Hell, when I first started as a firefighter, we wore cotton turnouts and didn't wear SCBA's. My first engine was a 1968 ALF, and our second out was a 1954 Ford with an open cab.

I'll see you on the PPE and unfortunately can raise you in the apparatus department, '51 Mack open cab aerial beats the '54 Ford and a 1960 Ward Lafrance in the back stall as the loaded reserve behind the stick. LOL
