Concur. I think it's not so much that Obama won, as much as that McCain just really really really lost.

(Makes sense if you think about it)

It does make sense just not with good logic.

There's bad blood between logic and I.

fwiw, I did research on both candidates just before the election. According to CNN, Obama had 97% of the black vote.

I don't really care for the fact that so many voted for him based purely on race. However, I keep it in perspective by remembering that so many DIDN'T vote for him because of the same thing.

Thats a good point......it would be interesting to see what would happen if we had a black/asian/hispanic running for Prime Minister over here.....

Are there that many people that are not white in the UK that they could determine the outcome of an election based solely on race?

Not at the moment - no. But there seems to be a shift in recent years and I can see the time will come that the current majority caucasian population will no longer exist and then it may well be a possibility.

We already have black and asian Members of Parliament so we're on that road I think

Well, it's all over now. THANK GOODNESS!!!!! I don't think I could watch another freaking political commercial.

As for those of you that voted for Obama, your wish has been fulfilled. But as the saying goes, you should always be careful for what you wish for.

It's no coincidence that the stock market had it's single worst fall the day following a presidential election yesterday. Wall Street came face to face with the fact that business was about to get raped with taxes and regulation over the next 4 years and, when combined with the current financial crunch, people started bailing. There are dark days ahead my friends and the reasons behind Obama's win are now moot. The only important questions now are what is the great speech maker going to do to to fix the situation? More taxes on already reeling business? Putting so much regulation on our number one domestic energy supply (coal) to drive it to ruin and cause an even greater dependence on foriegn oil? Place a gag on lady liberty and free speech by implementing the incredibly ill-named fairness doctrine?

Well, the one thing I do know is, whatever he does do, he'll need to use more than a teleprompter to get it done.

The stock market has been heading for a crash for ten years. Home prices were off the charts, easy credit for everyone, even those with no business borrowing....Two wars costing billions a month. Whoever won was going to inherit this faultering economy, and there is blame on all sides. The fact is, we are in the throws of a global economic slowdown, easy credit and charging our way through life is about to become a thing of the past. Our grandparents were frugal because they knew what it was like to have to save and pinch pennies. For the last 60 years people have been living better than the generation prior, but no more. I'm afraid to say that we have seen just the beggining. Our kids kids will still be paying for the mistakes of the past two generations.

This experiment with Euro-Style socialism and democracy is what the country was asking for. They were begging and pleading for it.

Well we will have it.

And we will see where we are in 4 years.

Thank God, he did NOT take enough Senate and Congressional seats to break a fillibuster. I am hoping that damage can be controlled.

My only fear is the national security consequences of his inexperience.

If he pulls out of Iraq precipitously he will be leaving the door open for Iran and Syrian backed Jihadists. Then we will be back in Iraq with even higher casualties and at an even higher cost.

And the Russians have already started...they announced that they are planning to place Sunburn Inter-Regional Cruise Missiles near the Polish Border in response to our missile-defense plan for Central Europe. Ad to that the rhetoric over Georgia...we'll see how Obama does. Will he stare them down the way Jack Kennedy did over Cuba? Or will he run like Clinton did in Somalia. Not to mention the fact that Russia announced plans to open some more Naval Bases in our predominant sphere of influence...can we say "SEA LINES OF COMMUNICATION?????"

These consequences can be dire. I pray he will have the strength and wisdom to deal with these situations with measure, courage and decisiveness.

Though I will not sit here and whine and bitch about him being elected...

It is our RIGHT, nay, it is our DUTY to speak out with righteous criticism with the government is not representing us properly. It is our DUTY to watch over the government...they work for us...not the other way around. They are dependent on US, the PEOPLE...

We are still in a constitutional republic....maybe we should brush up on our civics.

I was watching Fox News yesterday and they were talking about this in particular. They were talking about how most Prez-elects change their minds about things on National Security, b/c they now get to sit in on the security briefings and finally get a true grasp as to what is going on. So hopefully, this will be the case.

I'm hoping so. I'm also hoping that his political theory is good...but being a true statesman and leader of men requires the practical application of that theory in a real world way. He needs to prove to us he can move from theory to proof of concept and finally to real world application.

We shall see.

Something else to remember here too is that he was a Law Professor as well.

I was listening to NPR Radio yesterday and a commander from the U.S. command in Iraq that regularly does commentary for NPR cited that many of his troops, blan and white equally voted for Obama.

At least he isn't connected to big oil and allowing the oil companies to recieve billions in kickbacks and tax breaks...maybe we'll see our oil prices remain low and renewable energy move forward.

I personally think the majority of blacks voted based solely on race. They were so blind-sided by the fact that a black man actually had a chance to be president that it was all they could think about. Don't get me wrong, I'd have voted for Colin Powell in a heartbeat as I adore the man and think hes a genius....but Obama is dangerous and scares the hell out of me. Just my two cents, but I go with blind voting all the way, and blame the rest of the country for bandwagoning.
