I have a couple of questions regarding ACLS recert. Currently my only options to recert are to
a. Wait for my company to get around to it.
b. Do it on my 10 days at home 3 times a year
c. Do it via the AHA CD and demonstrate the skills in front of an ACLS instructor.
I have the CD. I had never heard of this route until I went to the AHA site. How and what does it consist of? When I take it and print out whatever the (*^& it gives me I am supposed to take it to an ACLS instructor and demonstrate intubation and then send it in for the card?

Sorry if it sounds stupid, I don’t want to waste 1-2 days at home doing acls when I can do it the CD route if possible. Anyone familiar with this route, etc?

The CD route is pretty convenient. All you have to do is complete it and print out the verification. Then you get with an instructor and do intubation, megacode and static cardiology. Nothing to it.

I thought the megacode and static cardiology were part of the CD?

They might be now. They weren't when I beta tested it. Either way, it's better than sitting through a class.

I know the last time I did it at a school house it was intubate and then everything else was on the cd. It was easy once you firgure out when to get a chest x-ray on the thing. I think it was geared for doc's.

Either way, it is the easiest way to do it from here.
