Heck I just use a new guy to listen with a stock out of the box scope. I can't hear anymore!

I have a Littmann Cardiology III. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's a great all purpose scope.

Really, any type of Littmann scope is a good buy.

Ditto, I can't hear shit on the $9.95 scopes. The Littmann's are worth every penny - and I even think you can deduct them (scopes) from your taxes (in the US). Check with H&R Block to confirm that one.

I'm hands down with the Littmann Cardiology III as well. I owned one of the old sprague-rappaport style, never again, and then a Omron, but I switched over to Littmann, won't go back.

I agree Littman is great and try to stay way from the brands with two tubes for they bump each other in the back (causing noise, in more than one way too!)

I have a Littman 4000, the amphlified one, for my hearing loss. I do not recommend it for everyone though, for it is expensive and picks up a fair amount of background noise. But it is fun to have others ask for my scope for those hard to hear things!!

Littmann Cardiology II, I know I'm a dinosaur. Yes my first extrication class included removing the wounded man from his horse.

No, Littmann is the best, if you don't have the budget the ADC makes a good knockoff of the littmann

Sure it wasn't the tar pits? Yes the ADC has a good cheap knock off. But what do I know?

I have the Littmann classic II, as you can tell Littmann is what is well perfered. I got mine on line for like $60, cant beat the price for a scope thats comfy and you can hear everything even while in a moving ambulance going code.

I use a Littmann, Cardiology STC. You can hear a flee fart through a leather jacket. Costs about 2 hundy, but its worth it. Check it out here:

Get either the Littman cardiology III, Master Cardiology (with the 2 diaphrams built into one bell, overlapping) or the new Magna Fortis Cardio-something or other. If you REALLY want a good set of ears, get one of those digital stethoscopes. They run anywhere from 400-1200 dollars. A Cardiologist I worked with let me borrow it and I swore I could hear what the cells were saying to each other. Remember, ears are an investment... and tax deductable(job-related).

Just bought me a Littman Cardiology III scope last month. Before that I used a Littman Classic II se but really couldnt hear shit with it. I have to admit the acoustical differences between the two is better than I expected.

What you don't want is the one with double tubes, They tend to bang on each other in the back of a rig. Try a Littmann. I've used one for 15yrs and have no complaints.

I use a master classic it might be a master classic ll I cant remember. I have seen several mention to not use the scopes with two tubes and that is true. A couple of things that might help you: If you do have one of the goofey sprage two tube things just tape them together every 4 inches and it will help from having them rub together and make noise. Also if you get a scope with a short length between the bell and ear things it greatly increases your ability to hear (also has other benefits LMAO). The last thing is to make sure you have good ear pieces that seal well in your ears. The soft grey or black ones seem to work best for most people. Almost forgot to tell you to get a name tag and put your phone number on it because you will lose it at some time... However, scopes usually find their way home. Good luck!!! Tim

Here is the link to Littman stethoscopes. You can compare different scopes and also find authorised dealers. You won't belive the differences in prices between some if the dealers. Good luck hunting.

I just bought an ADC two tuber to replace a single tube I lost while on my clinicals. Its not too bad but I will try the tape thing. One of the cardiologists at the hospital had one of the digital scopes and let me try it, HOLY CRAP could I hear with that thing!

That's funny as hell. I had a medic nail me with the air horn as I was walking in front of the bus one morning with a cup of coffee. Let's just say I didn't need the coffee anymore.

I like Littmans, but at times I think that you hear too much. I personally use an ADC and have for years now. There are ADCs on all 3 of our pieces also.

I have two scopes that I use-one is a Littman classic-nothing fancy, but it does well in the back of a moving ambulance-this is the one that I use on the job. The other is a prestige medical-it's a lot less expensive...this one's a double-tube job and it does well in the classroom setting, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're on an ambulance because if the ambulance is moving, those tubes rub against each other.

I'm getting ready to start paramedic school in the fall, so probably what I will do is use the prestige in the classroom and hospital setting and the Littman when I'm doing my ride time.

Woking for a vollie service I usually use the scope on the bus, which happens to be a Littmann Select, and it works just fine.

I also own two of my own, a Littmann Classic II S.E. (my first scope), which is a great place to start, and a Litmann Master Cardiology.

The Classic is a great all-around scope that has really taken a beating an still works awesome. Thats the one I keep in my jump bag that stays in my truck.

The Master is by far the clearest scope I've ever used, but as someone else said, sometimes when you're bouncin' aound in the back of the rig, you can hear too much.

If I were you I'd shoot for the mid price Classic, about $85 and worth every penny.
